There are some times when my affection for something or someone is so instantaneous and passionate that I surprise even myself (and I've known myself for a really long time!). It can be for something as inconsequential as a graphic t-shirt, as simple as a song (Jolene by Ray LaMontagne) or as powerful as a new friend, but when I feel the love I am annoyingly loud about it. Anyone near me will hear about it, like it or not.
This is the love I felt when I saw this print from the print and textile artist Garima Dhawan. I saw the print on Pinterest, clicked frantically to find her work and gawked for several minutes (which, as you know is a very long time in cyber-world). My God, how I love the colors! The simple organic shapes of the stones! The graphic lines of the stripes softened by the texture of the printed ink. I loved all that before I even remembered that I've been obsessed with fluorescent pink for some time. And that I love smooth stones. It was like she made that design just for me, Margot Madison! Needless to say, I ordered a print immediately and sent it to myself as a Christmas present. And then I liked Garima's facebook page and followed her on Pinterest. And then I sent her a note to say how much I loved it. Hence, the annoying super fan in me rears it's ugly head...I swear I can't help it. I also feel compelled to say that my affection is not dangerous, just annoying to people like my sister, friends or husband who have to hear about it 12 too many times.
Here is some more work from Garima, which is available in many forms (print, t-shirt, iPhone case etc) from her store at Society 8.
