All Assassins Creed fans:

If you have not noticed jet. Ubisoft revelled cover for just announced AC3 which comes out in October 30th. From the cover, we can see that it will be placed in America at time of American Revolution which took place in 1775 to 1781. IGN.com suspects that it will happened between 1777 to 1778. There are several clues that suggest that. Like flag in the back and uniforms of the solders.

I must say, I am very excited for this new chapter of AC. I just love the way this new character looks. There are some strong Native American signs. However, I don’t know how will the gameplay be satisfying. In previous ACs we had lots of building to climb, high towers and so on.  But at this point in the history American colonies were not so populated. There were some cities, however none of them were anything like Venice, Rome or Constantinople.  But we’ll see. I thrust Ubisoft not to disappoint us.

Today there were also some screen shoots leaked. They do reveal quite some more stuff, but this are still just some speculations. It seems that we will be able to climb threes and hunt. So for that surrounding areas will get stronger position.
But most importantly, we know now that our targets are British soldiers and influencing figures. And our friend will be George Washington.
Also on Monday,5th of March they shall revel trailer with much more clues.

Elite Stryfe Releases

I'll update this topic as they become more widespread, but the N-Strike Elite Stryfe is certainly making the rounds.  From being spotted on Toys R Us shelves around the United States to now getting listed on Wal Mart's website, the Stryfe will likely be a hot item this holiday season.

I picked mine up at a local Toys R Us, though there's always that higher markup you'll get buying them from there.  Keep your eyes peeled and post a comment if you've found the Stryfe near you!

"Light it Up" Goes Elite

To contact us Click HERE
Urban Taggers has posted a picture of the new box art of the Elite Rayven.  Instead of glow-streamlines, it'll feature glow-Elite darts.  The Rayven is also getting a performance upgrade, suggested by the "75 ft" range claim on the box, but I'm just happy to see my favorite electronic blaster in those great Elite colors I've loved since the start.  It raises a bit of a point of speculation for me, though.

With the Rayven getting the Elite treatment, does this mean that the Lumitron (as it was part of the Light it Up series, too) will be recolored like the Pyragon and Diatron are?
While other Vortex blasters in the lineup have not followed suit with this new White scheme that the Pyragon and Diatron are featured in, the Neon Green color that was exclusive to the "Light it Up" blasters (Rayven and Lumitron) leaves the Lumitron as the remaining blaster in this color scheme.  There haven't been any sightings of a white Lumitron to suggest this change, but it seems like a possibility to me.

Store Exclusive Elite?

As many of you know, I like blue.  It's been a big reason I love the N-Strike Elite lineup so much.  I had toyed with the idea, long before Elite came out, of a blue Spectre and eventually ended up repainting one.  Now that we've got Elite blasters flowing onto shelves like the repainted Jolt and Rayven, I wondered if the 3 Store-exclusive blasters might get into the mix too.

If you missed it, there are blasters exclusive to certain retailers.  Wal-Mart has the Spectre, Target has the Alpha Trooper, and Toys R Us has the Barrel Break.  I decided to take a bit of a closer look at the possibility of Elite-branded Store-exclusive blasters.  First, we need to consider the fact that N-Strike Elite will eventually replace normal N-Strike blasters (at least it's looking that way).  One could assume that with this replacement, we could see the Spectre, Barrel Break, and Alpha Trooper "Elite-ified", but there's a player that I think might have put a stain on this wishful thinking.

The Rough Cut 2x4.  It's essentially replaced the "shotgun" role that the Barrel Break once played.  It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have two shotgun-based blasters.  The Rough Cut will have the edge over the Barrel Break any way you cut it (pun intended).  Range, speed, ease of operation, it's got the Barrel Break beaten all the way around.

That being said, most Elite blasters are also having Slam-fire already built in.  The Alpha Trooper already has this.  It's reverse plunger system could be retooled (like the Raider and Recon) to have a direct plunger system in it to get those Elite ranges, too.  However the Spectre lacks this and already has a lower ammo capacity than the Maverick/Strongarm.  With all these observations, the future of the 3 Store-exclusive blasters looks very hazy and uncertain.  I almost think it's more realistic to think that eventually these 3 will get phased out with the rest of the N-Strike lineup.  They could get replaced by 3 entirely new store-exclusive blasters later on, but in general I get the feeling that these blasters aren't going to get that blue treatment.

The N-Strike Elite Stryfe is a Flywheel-driven Clip-fed variable pistol with options for a stock, barrel extension, as well as a top and bottom mounted Tactical Rail for other N-Strike accessories that was released in Fall of 2012.  There are a few interesting features about this blaster on the inside as well.  Below is a video detailing the various functions of it's internal layout including a full explanation of the safeties and locks built into it's design.

News: 2013 Super Soakers

To contact us Click HERE
SoundMedia.ch (German Website) has images up of the new Super Soakers that'll be coming out in 2013.  There's some interesting designs among them, including the Arctic Shock and Flash Blast.  There's a few other links included that list the "Switch Shot" and "Shotwave".
Also included is a "Domination Drum", which is the LightningStorm's drum magazine being sold on it's own, as well as a Hydropack (similar to my "Endless Thunderstorm") that can connect to any clip-fed Super Soaker.
There are a few other blaster images that we've seen small photos of, but these are the highest quality ones I've seen so far.  Among the other sightings, there have been "Bananna" clips for the Super Soaker lineup, which should be pretty cool.  Keep it here for more news!

N-Strike Elite Rayven Box Art

To contact us Click HERE

Spotted on German site "Soundmedia.ch" was a boot load of upcoming Nerf gear- much of which we've covered but I thought this was something cool- box art for the upcoming Elite version of the Rayven-CS-18- updated colours for the blaster and clip.
I find Nerf's product strategy a tad... confusing. While the Retaliator was essentially the Elite version of the Recon CS-6, and the Rampage was the Elite Raider, here we've got an Elite version of the Rayven... called the Rayven, AND featuring essentially the same box art imagery only with the Elite branding layer over it. I assume the original N-Strike Rayven will be replaced by this, as if it's not, I'll guarantee toy stores are going to get very confused very quickly. Given it's an Elite Rayven, I'd assume it'll have a similar spec to the Stryfe.
In any case, I do like the Elite colour palette so bring it on!

You have to wonder if whether the increasing amount of news available on the upcoming line has forced Nerf's arm a lil' into releasing this info NOW, or whether they were always planning on it, but Nerf themselves officially released info on the new Strongarm and Firestrike blasters today on their Facebook page, with upcoming details coming out next week.

"Nation, today we are officially revealing two new N-Strike Elite blasters that will be hitting shelves in 2013 (please note: availability and launch timing will vary by country/state/city): the N-Strike Elite Strongarm blaster and the N-Strike Elite Firestrike blaster! The Strongarm blaster features a six dart revolving barrel and both rapid-fire and single shot capability, while the Firestrike blaster has a red light targeting beam built for precision. BOTH blasters will feature cool N-Strike Elite styling and long-distance performance. More details to come on additional Elite blasters headed to stores in 2013, so check back here next week!"

Rant: Offence is the best defence: whatever happened to the shields?

To contact us Click HERE
Browsing through the German website Soundmedia.ch, I was once again looking at the image of the Nerf N-Strike Elite Rampage; it was an old early image of the blaster that was to come with a detachable shield (and a Retaliator stock?!). It really is a shame that Nerf decided to leave the shield out of the final release, as personally I found the Rampage in box to be a tad underwhelming- it provided LESS than the original Raider kit, and the shield just made a whole lot of sense.
The thing is, shields HAVE existed on other blasters, so what makes them decide to include them on some production models and not others?

Shields seem to make the cut when it comes to the Super Soaker range. We saw the unusually mounted side shield on the Super Soaker Hydro Cannon..

And then another new shield designed for the Super soaker Lightning Storm (which was just a Thunderstorm with new attachments)
Shields were also really made popular with the release of the N-Strike Stampede, even though most people actually take it off. Funnily enough, new Stampedes are reported to be shipping without the much loved bipod attachment, but the shield remains. I guess SOMEONE in Nerf land sees the value of the shield, even if the fans don't.

Another much anticipated shield attachment was the one that was to come with a "new" Nitron, that had been spotted and discussed earlier this year. Nerf was allegedly going to replace the Nitron's snazzy-but-with-no-added-benefit scope with a shield looking attachment instead. We saw the pics.. it caught our interest and then... nothing:P

Admittedly on the whole, in battle the shields don't really serve THAT much of a benefit, but in some instances they just look cool, and for some, that's important. Given it WAS essentially a Raider, the Rampage was therefore in my opinion the BEST blaster of the N-Strike Elite first wave but it was quite quickly overlooked because it didn't really bring a whole lot more to the table (maybe the 25 round drum?)

I guess I was just really looking forward to that shield:)

Water guns these days are considered to be the projectile blaster's poor cousin but the funny thing was it wasn't always the case- you could almost say it was the other way around.  Water guns used to be very popular and probably the 'ammo' of choice for most outdoor battle enthusiasts. While the lightweight casual user would just annoy the popular girl in school with his 2 buck squirt pistol bought at a newsagency, whenever there was a water fight to be had, it was like an arms race to get the biggest, highest capacity, furthest shooting blaster one could find. Any dart guns normally were single shot and weren't that exciting.

And while, things are very different now, there's still a part of me that wonders- what happened and can we ever bring back the epic water fight to it's former glory?

When it comes to toy blasters, what originally got me into them in the first place WAS the water gun. Water fights had always been the thing you do in Summer, whether it be in the school yard, back yard, beach, family gathering or whatever, and the water gun was the staple weapon of choice for any person wanting to upgrade from the milk carton or plastic cup. Water fights had universal appeal- you get someone wet, the natural response is they want to return the favour, so it was something that anyone, whether it was boys, girls, mums, dads, old, young- it didn't matter- everyone could get into it.  Water fights also had something over any other type of battling, and that was the water bomb- yup when you water fight, you have grenades:D
The Entertech AK Centrefire from the 80s. Motorised pew pew

Growing up in the glory days of water fights in the late 80s and 90s had me witness some absolute masterpieces in H20 battle technology, mostly coming from under the iconic brand of Super Soaker. Before this, the cool 'thing' were motorised battery powered water guns from the likes of Entertech in the mid 80s, but it really was the air pressure system from the original Super Soaker 50 that was an absolute game changer in the water fight arena. 20 pumps and your water tank was pressurised, shooting thick unbroken streams like a hose. There was nothing else like it.

And then, just when you thought you couldn't get any better, the game changed again with the release of the absolutely dominating Constant Pressure System (CPS) blasters of the mid to late 90s, resulting in pint-of-water-a-second soakage and huge tank capacities. So what would come next that could topple such power?

CPS 2000. Now THAT was a cannon.
Nothing. And there has never been anything quite like them since.

Because of this era, Super Soaker managed to be synonymous with absolute water fight dominance. We say "It's Nerf or Nothing" but in those days, Super Soaker was it- even blasters that weren't Super Soakers were still referred to AS Super Soakers- every second competitor tried to create knock offs of the design but to no avail- Super Soaker was basically, the shiz. But then... something happened?

The Super Soaker began to decline in the past decade- some say it was when Larami was bought out by Hasbro and the original staff moved on, or some even suggest global warming- in Australia, we had major droughts and massive water restrictions, thus putting the water fight out of favour. Some believe it was a safety factor as laws became stricter and the rumours of taking out eyeballs with a stream of water began to scare the hell out of parents. In any case, we stopped seeing those awesome blasters on the shelves and water guns were reduced to pretty ordinary fares, mostly just variations of the worst kind of water gun ever- the piston/syringe style blaster with it's lack of functional trigger.

How the story goes- Larami employees- the original Super Soaker manufacturers before they sold out to Hasbro, left/were let go from the company and formed Buzz Bee. It is true many of the Water Warriors range of blasters that have come out from Buzz Bee share a similar pedigree to the Super Soakers of old, but they haven't been able to really establish themselves as the water gun kings because to the average joe in the street, the brand 'Super Soaker' stands for the best water blaster there is. And that's unfortunately the problem. Buzzbee has never really had the rep to claim top dog rights, even though anyone in the know would suggest they deserve it.

Flash forward to now, and the revamping of the Super Soaker brand in the past few years has aesthetically been fantastic. From the moment we got word of the Thunderstorm, the majority of new Super Soakers that have hit the market have looked amazing; massive props to the designers of the shells of those babies- gone are the weird looking bubble-and-pipe style gaudy fluoro colour schemed guns, replaced by some very schmick looking kit. They even make a fantastic starting point for amazing aesthetic mods.

That being said, when it comes to water guns, almost everyone who gets into them will say functionality and performance is so much more important than appearances. And these new Super Soakers share nothing with the original blasters than the name. They don't shoot far enough. They don't soak enough. They don't have the storage capacity. And while there are a few scattered blasters like the Point Break with an air pump, or the Hydro Cannon with a sort of CPS/flashflood action, we can definitely see that Super Soakers these days are no where near able to exert any form of dominance in a water fight.

3 out of the 4 upcoming blasters are missing a trigger..
The final real blow to the Super Soaker name is in looking at the new range, the majority of the new blasters might look incredible, but they seem to be lacking the all important functional trigger. I'm really surprised that after all this time, so many toy companies still have not worked out that when you design and produce a toy blaster, you'll more likely to make sales if your blaster- has a working trigger. Piston based water guns are HORRIBLE- they lack accuracy due to the constant pumping back and forth and aren't fun to use. It's the biggest beef out of any enthusiast of the water gun, casual or veteran. And yet Hasbro STILL insist on pumping them out.  Taking the name of older air pressure blasters such as the Arctic Shock and slapping it onto a very good looking but what will likely be a poor performing piston based blaster is almost an insult:(

The original Arctic shock.
Motorised battery powered water guns are fun from a novelty factor, but their tiny apertures, annoying noise and relatively low capacity can be easily out classed by the squeeze of a full detergent bottle from an opponent. They were considered fun in the 80s, but once the air pressure systems of the original Super Soaker came out, there was a new standard, and thin stream squirts just didn't cut it any more. But we still have the Thunderstorm, Lightning Storm and Electrostorm. Aesthetically awesome. Novel to use. Easily outclassed.

This is one area where Hasbro could do well by popping out repaints of old blasters. Bring out some CPS blasters in a new colour scheme and watch water fight fans, both veterans and casual players rejoice. Even better- take the tech that they already own, and work on it to develop some new and improved kit that's more than just for show. They had it spot on right in the 90s- they can do it again.

Or has the market moved on? Do we not water fight anymore?

For me, it's scouring the internet for those selling the old CPS blasters on eBay and the like but really, I'm kinda hoping for the day where there's a resurgence in water blaster technology. I'd love to see Super Soaker be the iconic brand it used to be, but until then I'll be waving the flag of the old school kit, and knowing I will almost certainly win any local current day water fight arms race where challenged:D

Well, official word from Hasbro Australia has come in on official dates for all of the upcoming Nerf N-Strike Elite gear we've been discussing. For most of us, this stuff can't come soon enough. The general trend is they normally do start popping up a month or two at least before the official release, so here's hoping:D

Nerf N-Strike Elite Firestrike : Feb 2013
Nerf N-Strike Elite Strongarm : Feb 2013
Nerf N-Strike Elite Stryfe: Mid 2013
Nerf N-Strike Elite Rough Cut 2x4: May 2013
Nerf Vortex Diatron : Mid 2013

Swedish catalogue goes gender neutral

I saw this on Nerfenstein's FB page- I wonder if this could/would ever happen here in Australia, but apparently in Sweden, 'Top Toy' (a toy store with the licence to the 'Toys R Us' name) was reprimanded for gender discrimination in their previous catalogue and therefore have changed things to feature... SHOCK- girls holding Nerf guns.

I actually am surprised this hasn't happened earlier, nor does it look at all out of place. I've always thought the terms 'boys toys' and 'girls toys' were grossly out-of-date (I actually had a collection of first gen Bratz dolls when they first came out I'll sheepishly admit!) so I welcome the change.

Word has it on Reddit that the N-Strike Elite Stryfe has already been spotted on shelves in a Toys R Us in Minnesota (similarly the eBay dude selling his Stryfe is from MN too) - even if it was an accident, that does suggest the Stryfe is comin' real soon:D One of the contributors 'Brstieren' posted some photos of with different attachments. More pics after the jump.
